Helping those in their time of need
While we all want to help out, it is sometime hard to help, know how to help, or know where to find those that really need help. I am lucky that I have friends and family that are a great support.
Through out meeting and greeting with many different people, I have been added to many lists of ways to help or spread the word, so I thought it would be nice to add a section to my site.
If something interests you, feel free to reach out to them, if not - thanks for taking the time to look. I will update this page as I get information & shoud you have an organization or know of a legit way and would like it added to the site, please let me know & it will get posted.
Thanks!

For the Love of Peyton Blanket Party - Sat Oct 15
This came through in an email from Doing Good Together
For The Love of Peyton Blanket Party
Date/Time: Saturday, October 15, 6:30-10pm
Location: Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Avenue S, Bloomington
The inspiration for the Blanket Party was a hand-tied blanket given to Peyton Bocklage during his treatment for cancer. We are continuing the tradition of bringing comfort, hope and love to others through the making and distribution of hand-tied blankets Volunteers meet once a year to make as many hand-tied fleece blankets as possible in one evening. Last years' blankets were donated to local organizations such as: Safe Haven for Youth, House of Charity, The Family Place, Alexandra House, MN Indian Women's Resource Center, Gillette Children's Hospital, People Serving People, Soujner Shelter, St. Josephs Home for Children, Bridge for Runaway Youth, Families Moving Forward, and Hospice-Minnesota. You DO NOT need to know how to sew to make the blankets. All you need to do is cut fabric and tie a knot.
What to bring: Fleece; it takes 3 yards (2 pieces @1.5 yards each) per child sized blanket and 5 yards (2 pieces @2.5 yards each) for each teen/adult sized blanket, and a pair of sharp scissors. Please invite all your friends to share in this event!!

GIVE TO THE MAX DAY NOVEMBER 16
Help us help more families on Give to the Max Day. This Wednesday, November 16, is the 3rd annual Give to the Max Day! At Doing Good Together, we are especially excited because this year, we have a generous matching grant, courtesy of the Oswald Family Foundation. Each dollar that you donate to Doing Good Together will be matched one-to-one by the Oswald Family Foundation, effectively doubling your gift! The idea behind Doing Good Together is to inspire, encourage and equip families to volunteer together; to spend time with loved ones while also helping the larger world. In the process, we raise children who are compassionate, aware of social issues, and are instilled with the lifelong habit of giving. Doing Good Together provides hands-on tools specifically for parents, and also teaches organizations how to more effectively engage families in service.
How can you help?
